Job Description: I&E Technician
The I&E Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of all instrumentation, electrical systems, and controls in the LNG facility. This role requires proficiency in Emerson instruments, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) used in LNG operations. The technician will ensure that all instrumentation and control systems operate efficiently and reliably, adhering to safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Instrumentation & Control Systems Maintenance:
- Maintain and troubleshoot various process control systems, including Emerson instrumentation (e.g., Rosemount, Fisher), HMI, and PLCs.
- Perform regular calibration, adjustment, and testing of instruments such as flow, pressure, temperature, level transmitters, and analyzers.
- Troubleshoot and repair control system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for calibrating, repairing, and maintaining instrumentation systems.
- Perform routine maintenance on control systems, including installation, wiring, and testing of electrical and control devices.
PLC & HMI Systems Support:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair PLC-based control systems, including programming and logic modification if necessary, using software like DeltaV, Allen Bradley, or Siemens.
- Ensure proper operation of HMI systems and provide troubleshooting support when issues arise.
- Implement system modifications, updates, and backups as needed for PLCs and HMIs.
- Support the integration of new systems or upgrades, ensuring seamless communication between all control systems in the LNG facility.
System Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor and analyze control system data to identify issues and provide proactive solutions to minimize downtime.
- Respond to alarms and system faults, performing corrective actions to restore operations.
- Work with the control room to address system alarms and malfunctions, ensuring proper reporting and follow-up of corrective actions.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all electrical and instrumentation work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, codes, and best practices (e.g., NFPA 70, IEC 61508, and IEC 61511 standards).
- Follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures for equipment maintenance to ensure worker safety during service and repairs.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a safety culture by identifying and mitigating hazards related to electrical and instrumentation systems.
Maintenance Support:
- Assist in preventive maintenance (PM) planning and execution for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Ensure all maintenance and repairs are logged accurately, including work performed, parts used, and time spent, in the plant’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to resolve equipment issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Training and Development:
- Provide training and support to other team members on instrumentation, electrical systems, PLCs, and HMI operation and troubleshooting.
- Stay current on new technologies, system upgrades, and industry trends to support the continuous improvement of facility systems.
- Assist in the onboarding and mentoring of new technicians, providing guidance on best practices for maintaining and troubleshooting I&E systems.
Project and System Upgrades:
- Support capital projects, upgrades, or modifications to instrumentation, electrical, and control systems.
- Participate in commissioning and start-up activities of new equipment or systems as required.
- Ensure that all system modifications or additions are properly documented, tested, and integrated into the overall facility control system.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 1 year of PLC, HMI, DCS platform and SCADA preferred
- General knowledge of Emerson products
- Familiar with CMMS systems
- Schedule: Mon-Fri 7pm – 4am with 30% travel to the Bahamas 3 days/month so a passport is required
